Yashwantarao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA), the apex-training institute of Government of Maharashtra wants to prepare a panel of copy editors. We invite applications from copy editors having experience of editing English and Marathi manuscripts, research reports, process documents, as per the checklist below. The application with CV and quoted rates for copy editing of A4 size page are required.

Checklist for copyediting

1. Proofread and mark every page of the module for

Ø Spelling errors, typos

Ø Grammar errors

Ø Abbreviations

Ø Punctuation

Ø Capitalization

Ø Continuity in Bulleted lists

Ø Continuity in numbered list

2. Consistency of paragraph numbering, titles, subtitles numbering

3. Heads and subheads are logically assigned and consistently formatted

4. Consistency in manner of expression, Content inconsistency and readability Identifying gaps (apparent missing content) or unclear or confusing instructions

5. Wordiness (e.g., in order to, a number of, due to the fact that) and excessive use of the passive voice    have been eliminated.

6. Word and phrase usage (Text should be checked for commonly misused words, such as between and among, effect and affect, compose and comprise, and while and although etc)

7. Consistency of style according to pre-decided style guide

8. Referencing style- footnotes, bibliographic references, text references (Citations should be compared against the reference list to check for missing names, errors in the spelling of names, and years that do not match. It needs to be seen that all references are cited and appear in correct order)

9. Indexing and paging

10. Picture/photographs/textboxes placement and descriptions at right places

11. Figures, tables, and displays are cited in order.

12. Figure captions and tables have been edited. Table arrangement is clear, and table matter is correctly formatted.

The CV will be scrutinized and the selected applicants will be called for discussion. On the basis of which the final panel of copy editors will be prepared.
