YASHADA is introducing a Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management
(PGDRM)
Introduction
YASHADA, a premier training institute of India, has been conducting
training,
research and consultancy in the field of Development Administration
for the last
40 years. YASHADA is also a National Resource Center for many of the
schemes
of Government of India and also many UN organizations. So far
YASHADA has
conducted short-term courses for in service government personnel.
However
since last year it has introduced diploma courses in partnership
with academic
bodies of international repute.
The YASHADA’s Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management is a
one-year
course, which is designed to impart a mix of practical as well as
managerial skills
and personality development inputs. It also aims at improving the
understanding
of the economic, social and political environment in order to
improve the ways
and means through which managers at all levels will be able to
deliver better
services. The training and examination have been made flexible
enough to
enable those working to continue with their jobs even while taking
the course.
This course will only hone skills in managing men and money and
providing
services to rural India, it will enable participants to understand
how rural India
functions, how people think and how to work with them. Learning in
this course
will involve a healthy mix of inputs from senior academics and
persons with long
and successful experience from the field, from persons who have been
involved
in key decision-making tasks in the Government. It provides a unique
opportunity to work with those engaged in the task of rural
management.
Course USP – It would
• Sensitize managers to experiences in development administration in
different states and learn from replicable models.
• Put such experience in overall context of policy formation
• To demystify policy and learn strategies to improve implementation
• Enable managers to learn better skills for resource mangement
• Improve skills in financial management, accounting
• Enable managers to better understand organizational behaviour and
personnel management skills.

Course Structure -
• Academic Inputs – There are ten modules (subjects) to be studied
through
distance learning. Two contact sessions, the first in September 2009
& 2nd in
January 2010 will be conducted at YASHADA, wherein, the experts in
the
respective field will guide the candidates. These sessions are
compulsory.
• Organisational attachment – Third contact session will be an
organizational / Institutional attachment in which the candidate has
to study
one organization / Institution related to Rural Management for 15
days and
has to make a detailed presentation of the working of the
organization at
YASHADA. The students need to study the organization of YASHADA’s
choice.
• Assignments – The candidates have to submit two assignments on the
ten
modules.

understanding.

Duration and Examination
Minimum course duration is one year. However, after completing
contact
sessions and attachments students can take examination within a
period of five
years after registration.
Who can enroll
The candidate should be
A graduate in any discipline from a recognized University
AND
Have proficiency in English
AND
Preferably with some experience of working in rural sector
OR
Senior In-service officers working in Panchayati Raj Institutions,
Government
Departments, Elected representatives, Professionals, Consultants,
NGO
representative, rural activists and any employed person who wants to
pursue a
career in Rural Management
(Fresh Graduates who are not employed need not apply)
